What we look at on a diesel
An odometer reading tells you less on a diesel than on a gas truck. How it was kept tells you more. These are the things that move the number:
- Service history: oil changes, fuel filters, anything done to the injectors or turbo
- What it pulled and how often. A truck that towed a horse trailer twice a year is not a hotshot truck
- 4x4 or two-wheel drive, cab and bed configuration
- Rust underneath. Trucks that have lived in the South are worth more to us
- Tires, brakes and anything you know is due soon
Photos that get a diesel quoted fast
- The engine bay with the hood up
- The dash with the engine running, so the mileage and any warning lights show
- Underneath, behind the rear wheels, and the hitch
- All four corners, the bed, and the interior front and back
Tuned, modified or worked on?
Tell us in the notes what's been done to it, especially anything under the hood. A truck that matches its description gets paid quickly. One that turns up different from the photos gets re-quoted in person, and nobody enjoys that conversation.
No salvage or rebuilt titles — the title has to be clean.
