Selling with a lien
Still owe on it?You can still sell it.
Most trucks and cars we buy still have a loan on them. It's not a problem and it doesn't slow things down much. The lender holds the title, the loan gets paid off out of the sale, and the title comes to us.
No VIN handy? Start the form without it or call Brian at 214-732-7859.
How the payoff works
- Call your lender and ask for a payoff amount. That's not the balance on your statement; it includes interest up to a specific date
- Send us the VIN and photos and get an offer
- If you accept, we deal with your lender directly to pay off the loan and get the title released
- If the offer is more than the payoff, the difference is yours
If you owe more than it's worth
That's called being upside down, and it's common on newer trucks. The loan has to be paid in full before the title can change hands, so the gap between our offer and your payoff is something you'd cover at the sale. We'll tell you the offer first so you know exactly what that gap is before you decide anything.
What to have ready
- Your lender's name and your loan account number
- The payoff amount and the date it's good through
- Your driver's license
- All keys and remotes
No salvage or rebuilt titles — the title has to be clean.
